Nervous about attending class? Here’s what you can expect!

Class opens with a short community check in / sharing circle. This is your space to share as much or as little as you like about your experience in the moment.

Each session then starts with a somatic meditation, encouraging a gentle and titrated settling into your body. These meditations vary week to week, but are always self led, safe explorations of your body, mind, and feelings. Some weeks we may incorporate somatic touch practices, breathwork, or visualisation practices.

The movement portion of the class is based on the needs of the student group each week, with options to modify for your desires. I do not use Sanskrit names in my classes, and our aim is never to ‘nail the pose’ but rather to explore how each shape feels and what our boundaries of comfort and safety are wherever we move.

Some parts of the class will encourage you to be self-led. These moments invite intuitive movement and exploration of what your body needs in that moment, tapping into your desires for rest or movement, strength or softness, chaos or structure, flow or stillness, learning over time to let your body lead, and let your mind take a back seat.

Most sessions work up slowly towards a ‘peak flow’ and then soften back down into stillness, with a few minutes at the end just to rest, called ‘Savasana’.

On our journey out of rest and back to movement we often take a final reflection on our experience of the class. This sometimes looks like creating our own mantra or word of support, taking a Loving Kindness (Metta) meditation, somatic touch, or just a final check in.

We end with a bow of gratitude and honour, and gently return to the space.

What others have said about why they come to this class:

“This class allows me to take time out in the day to connect with my body and self.”

“This class is not about twisting my body into a pretzel and doing a workout. It’s a moment for relaxation and building strength and flexibility without pressure or too much intensity.”

“I come to this class because it feels like a moving meditation, not just sun salutations at increasing speed until you are nearly sick.”
