WHAT IS TRAUMA-SENSITIVE YOGA?
“The price of admission to a trauma-sensitive class is not self-love. All parts are welcomed in an embodied way.”
What is it?

Trauma-sensitive yoga is a body based clinical intervention for complex trauma. It is a great treatment option for what often gets termed ‘treatment resistant’ trauma disorders.

What can TCTSY do for me?
-
leads to faster symptom improvement and similarly sustained results when compared to other talk therapies.
-
has a 42.6% higher treatment completion rate than traditional talk therapies.
-
shows a reduction in flashback/re-experiencing symptoms of 33% over 10 weeks.
What does it involve?

No mandatory talk component
If talking about your trauma is triggering or unhelpful, TSY could be for you. Reflection/processing of the experience of the session itself is invited, but not required.
Encourages choice and agency
Trauma shuts down your ability to choose what happens to you. TSY invites you to make active choices about your body.

Interoception
Trauma often causes disconnection from the body. Where your body can be a difficult place to be, TSY encourages titrated, low dosage interoception: an invitation to explore being in your body in a safe and choice led way.

Shared authentic experience
Relational trauma takes place in the context of safe relationship. The TCTSY model is non-coercive, attuned, and authentic.

Here's what people are saying about working with me:

“Emily is phenomenally tuned in to her clients, their needs and their pain. That is what makes a journey that starts out frightening (re-connecting with the body) feel safe and helps us keep going through dark moments.”

“Emily has really helped me come to terms with my trauma internally and helped me feel safe in my own body again. For the first time in years I feel powerful and confident.”

“In all of my experiences with Emily I leave feeling more embodied, grounded and empowered.”
